Name: Rasha Wyndsong
Dog(s): "SIR GROG DOGEE OF POMERANIA" (and recently passed over to the Rainbow Bridge, his mate, Lady Ophelia)
City: Oceano

Here is a picture of me and my Toy Pomeranian, "Sir Grog Dogee of Pomerania" when he was a puppy. (He is a purebred and was knighted, by the Queen, at the Ojai Pirate/Renaissance Faire!)

When Grog was a puppy, I saw the need for a local dog park. I researched the area parks already in place, in San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria and Nipomo and started asking local dog owners if they would support a dog park for the Five Cities area. Everyone said they would.....so I started a petition and approached the Grover Beach city council regarding the dog owner's wishes. Input was well received and looked promising, this was several years ago.

I have not been able to hold the torch for some time now, but I am thankful for Cynthia and Ray stepping in and taking this project over. I am still very supportive of it and talk to people all the time about what is happening with the project. It is getting closer to happening and I am THRILLED! :)

Originally, we had thought to call it "H.O.U.N.D.S. Haven", standing for "Happy Owners Uniting Neighborhood Dogs Safely". That is the goal, and whatever name is decided upon for the park, I am glad to have been a part of helping to get the idea off the ground and into the city council. I look forward to it becoming a reality!

As Grog's mate just passed away this month, I had a thought.... perhaps for a donation given, there could be memorial wall where people get to put their dog's info on a little plaque or tile on display in the park somewhere. I am sure lots of people would like to make an "in memory of....." type donation.

Keep up the great work, the reality of the process will come about soon!
