Ground Breaking Ceremony a Hit

Ground Breaking Dignataries

The Association and members of the Arroyo Grande City Council were on hand today at Elm Street Park in Arroyo Grande to officially announce the beginning of construction activities.

About 75 people, both Association members and non-members, showed up to listen to speeches from Association President Cynthia Eklund who told the crowd that the groundbreaking event was planned mainly to answer the concerns that some residents had about the park actually becoming a reality. She assured the attendees that the park would be built and fund raising efforts were ongoing.

Other speakers included Arroyo Grande Mayor Pro Tem, Chuck Fellows, and Park and Recreation Director, Doug Perrin. In attendance where City Council members Ed Arnold and Joe Costello, and City Manager, Steve Adams.

We are pleased to announce that the fund raising efforts have been successful so far. We have raised more than $15,000 to date. That puts us half way toward our goal of $30,000. Please help us reach our goal and get our park up and running before the end of the year.

Fundraising in Full Swing

We are happy to report that the Associaton's fundraising efforts have heated up. To date, our membership has donated over $10,000. These are dog lovers and owners who understand the value of having a designated off-leash park available to the community. Unfortunately, those members who have given so far account for less that 25% of our total membership. We know there are others out there who want to give, but haven't found the time or quite simply don't have the available funds right now.

Remember, this park will be free for all. There will be no membership fee or entrance fee. Yet, our Association will be responsible for the purchase, construction and maintenance of all features and amenities for the life of the park. Please consider a donation today to help provide your community with this free activity tomorrow.

We hope to see you at our next fundraising event!

"Future Home" Banner Up.

We are happy to announce that, after some legal wranglings, the dog park at Elm Street is a "GO". We have been advised by the City of Arroyo Grande that construction can begin immediately.

Fundraising activities are back in full swing. Donations are needed now! If you're a member and haven't yet given, please consider sending your check in today. This park is for you and every dog lover that values their dog's (and their own) good health. If you're not a member, please consider joining the Association.

Help us reach our goal!

We Did It!

Arroyo Grande has approved a new dog park within the city's limits.

A portion of the existing Elm Street Park is being designated as an off-leash area. It will be the Five Cities Dog Park Association's responsibility to raise the necessary funds to construct the necessary fencing, gates and amenities before the park can be opened to the public.

If you are interested in helping out in any way, we would love to see you at our next planning meeting. Please sign up as a member and let us know how you would like to help. We'll keep you informed about upcoming events.
